 Description:
 The design combines two key elements of the Erasmus programme: its creator, Erasmus himself, and an allegory of his influence on Europe. The first element is symbolised by one of the most famous images of Erasmus. The second element is symbolised by a ray of connections that cross the coin from one beacon to another, representing the numerous intellectual and human exchanges between European students. Some of the connections form stars, resulting from the synergy between countries, as a reference to Europe. The number 35, representing the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus programme, emerges from the stars in a contemporary graphic style. The outer ring of the coin features the twelve stars of the European flag.
